There has been less media coverage on COVID-19 since it was reclassified as a class 5 infectious disease for sentinel surveillance under the Infectious Diseases Act, but this does not mean that the pandemic has been contracted. The number of reports from medical institutions for sentinel surveillance has been increasing since May. According to a sentinel surveillance report released by Kanagawa Prefecture, more people were infected with COVID-19 this month compared to December 2022.

As specified in the Ordinance for Enforcement of the School Health and Safety Act, if a student is diagnosed by a medical doctor as having COVID-19, the student’s attendance will be suspended until 5 days have passed since the onset of symptoms and until 1 day after symptoms abate. It is also recommended that you wear a mask for 10 days after the onset of symptoms.
If you become infected with COVID-19, you should limit your activities and rest as much as possible until your health recovers.
